Type A BINGO

So tonight was the first of five Christmas parties for me. This was the 'Timmer extended' party, which is the seven brothers and sisters of my paternal grandfather, along with each of their kids, grandkids, and in some cases, great-grandkids. This party is also best known as "the bingo party" as the routine pretty much entails eating, playing bingo, eating candy, and leaving.

Gifts aren't exchanged, but there's a table full of prizes/presents for bingo winners. Every one grabs their two cards (that's the max) and play begins. After going through the standard game we play other random styles such as four corners, fill the card, and (new this year, thanks to me) fill the middle nine.

Tonight, just after beginning the first game, my 5 year old cousin Annie comes over, says "I want to play with YOU" and climbs on my lap. Soon after she points to the middle of the table and asks me "why can't we play with those colors?" She was referring to the plethora of random chip colors and styles in the middle of the table. She was confused and questioning due to the fact that before she came over, I had pulled out all of the clear orange ones and was fully intending to use those chips and those chips only. That limited selection of course did not satisfy her.

Immediatly realizing that any attempt of explaining 'obsessive compulsive' or 'type A' to a five year old would be in vain, I quicky conceeded my anality and finished the evening of bingo 'playing with those colors'.
